DIAGNOSTICS

Clinical Chemistry laboratory performs analysis of almost all body fluids such as urine, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), but mostly on serum and or plasma.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

One response to these challenges is for hospitals to commit to "going green." There's already momentum toward more sustainable use of resources in homes and buildings around the globe, and medical facilities are an important part of that trend. There are so many ways a hospital can go green, ranging from the elimination of Styrofoam in their food service operations to the construction of new buildings with the latest sustainable features.

PUBLIC HEALTH

Public health is the science of protecting and improving the health of people and their communities. This work is achieved by promoting healthy lifestyles, researching disease and injury prevention, and detecting, preventing and responding to infectious diseases.

CAPACITY BUILDING

Capacity building focuses on furthering an organization's ability to do new things and improve what they currently do. Most simply, capacity building improves the organization's performance and enhances its ability to function and continue to stay relevant within a rapidly changing environment.

AWARNESS

Health campaigns are generally designed both to increase awareness of health threats and to move target audiences to action in support of public health. For example, public health campaigns often encourage target audience members to engage in healthy behaviors that provide resistance to serious health threats.

COMMITTED TO CARBON REDUCTION

Hospitals across the country—and around the world—are taking action to reduce their carbon footprints. From increasing energy efficiency to reexamining their food systems to analyzing their supply chains and transportation impacts, hospitals are finding ways to dramatically reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Our hospitals generate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in a variety of ways, including:
• the energy we use;
• the emissions we release;
• the food we serve;
• the supplies we purchase;
• the waste we dispose of
• the structures we build; and
• the transportation footprint from commuting employees and fleet management—to name a few.
Practice Green health is working with its member hospitals to develop and identify robust measurement and tracking systems for GHGs and helping create the transition to a more sustainable long term energy solution.
So what does the future hold for Ashraff Memorial Hospital, Kalmunai? That is something we are talking a lot about these days.
